Ruger Single Six .22 single action – too much fun!

I’ve had this pistol around for years. I bought it from a friend’s dad many years back when I was in college. For some reason, I’ve never really wrote much about it, but I know I’ve told people many times what I think about it. Now it’s your turn.

Plinker fun

The basics, it is a single-action .22lr/.22 win mag pistol with a 6-shot cylinder and a 6-inch barrel. Mine is stainless but they are available in blued finish. Mine also has adjustable sights and it just stupid fun to shoot.

Accuracy is okay. I mean, you’re not packing a lot of punch from a .22 pistol. Would it work for home defense? Maybe. Will it work for squirrels and other assorted critters of the small game variety? Oh yeah!

I think the thing I like most is the connection to the older style. It feels like an old-west gun. Like I’m going to have a shoot out at the O.K. Corral with Skippy Squirrel and his posse of nut crackers. Go ahead punk, do you feel lucky?

The pistol feels great and is well balanced. It feeds everything I put in it and has yet to jam or not work. The push rod extractor is flawless and I couldn’t be happier.

It’s a Ruger for crying out loud! Who couldn’t be happy with that?
