A few years back, I was hunting geese with my tried and true Mossberg® 835 that I bought back close to when they first came out. It was, and is a great gun that rarely failed me, and then due only to my abuse. My hunting buddies all carried semi-auto shotguns and liked to rub it in my face that they did. I knew one thing; I wanted an auto. When Mossberg released the 935 semi-auto shotgun, I was pumped. Continue reading
The introduction of the Remington® R-25™ is a big step for the outdoor community and the shooting sports industry. The market Remington is going after is the big-game hunting crowd. Nice. Having one of the biggest companies in the industry marketing an AR-platform gun to the big game hunter is just downright cool.
One of the things I have noticed as I research different guns and all things hunting is a common question that keeps popping up in online discussion forums and over-the-counter chat fests at gun shops. Nor was it lost on the American Military, as we have pressed Steiner optics into service for many years. This wasn’t lost on Cabela’s either as they went to Steiner to produce a binocular that is as tough as anything out there.
When using a spotting scope, you need something to mount it to for it to be sturdy and unwavering. There are several options, but a rock solid tripod is far and away the best.
When the U.S. Military went looking for a spotting scope to compliment and complete their new SASS Sniper unit, they went to Leupold. What they got was a compact, ultra-clear spotting scope that has the durability to handle any situation thrown at it. Just what you’d expect from Leupold. Continue reading
I told a couple of folks that I was getting one of these rifles to test and the basic response was, “Oh, another AR.” That opinion changed the moment I took it out of the case.
It’s the waterfowl season and you’ve got a flock coming into your spread. The word goes out to “Take ‘em!” Blinds fly open, non-toxic shot goes up, and birds come down. Waterfowl blinds offer the hunter concealment, comfort and the mobility to hunt ducks and geese in any condition and from where the birds want to be. Continue reading
